Drive Ball

Drive Ball, also know as Treibball in Europe, is a new competitive dog sport that was developed in Germany, primarily for herding and working dogs (who need a job), but any dog who's good off-leash and who wants to have fun with his owner can play.

The game is played with fitness-type balls and a goal. When the handler blows the whistle, the dog is directed to the ball farthest from the net. The dog can only use his nose or shoulder to herd that ball. When all the balls are in the net, the dog lies down in front, just like penning sheep! Smaller dogs can herd smaller balls, larger dogs bigger ones.

This class is the foundation for outruns-lift-fetch behaviors.

Cost is $120 for 6 weeks.

Balls are provided for class; but large balls will be made available for purchase on the first day of class for $15.

Taught by Susan Paulsen M.Ed., and Daphne Robert-Hamilton, CPDT-KA.
